As I think of Morality and happiness, I think of the ways it connects to my life. First starting with the connection of morality. I really like Socrates view of morality in choosing reason, but I also do believe in Glaucon’s view of people using motives mostly. I feel like many people want to do things for their benefit but won’t admit to it morally. I believe that reason is morally better though because reason will make you make more responsible decisions or tell the truth. I think this applies with family or friends too especially with conflicts between them. Telling the truth using Socrates belief would be more responsible and help you have healthier relationships and would solve any conflicts. I believe that self-interest like shown with ‘Adam smith’ is not a healthy morality I believe that people can do what they want but wealth shouldn’t be first priority. Also, that it shouldn’t be narrowed to certain people. I believe that dictatorship is not a good use of morality being that it relates to wealth and power being first. I do believe the Bentham’s idea is correct because I believe everyone should have the opportunity to have ‘pleasure in life’. I think if I can have pleasure in life that people like even my friends and family or even coworkers should have the equal chance. Even if they’re less rich or richer. The only idea I do not agree with Bentham with is the view of being negative or seeing the world negatively as being negative and positive being seeing it stress free. I believe that it is good to see the negative things that are happening in the world even if it is a small amount of people that see it I believe it can still be an issue that can be solved and would result in pleasure. I believe that an issue should be important even if a lot of people aren’t protesting it. I find Kant’s morality very interesting I agree with the connection of us being born with categories. The idea of that we are born with notions but need to learn right from wrongness. I believe that we are raised a certain way and have some morals set beforehand even if it’s not all set when were born.

I’m not really set on a certain morality I believe that a mix is the best. Especially a mix of Kant’s and Bentham’s ideas would be the best. I think that because both trusting your intuition or what you were born with but also thinking that everyone should have equal pleasure is a healthy morality. But even having a little bit of mills ideas of not only focusing on number of people but focusing on quality but also the others. I think morality also depends on the situation and each idea would connect with how you see a situation. I think it is good to have a mix of moralities because you have different perspectives not just black and white.
