The topic of public perception of knife crime affecting community cohesion in London is such an important subject that we need to focus on. The issue of knife crimes are severe and widespread in London, and these crimes are usually done by young adults or even teenagers. Most youths and teenagers that perform crimes like these are usually on drugs like marijuana, cocaine, kodin, etc. These drugs affect their way of thinking and they make them react violently. It may be that they were going through a difficult time and were just using the drugs as a relief which lead to a bad deed.

Although, not all crimes are drug-induced. These drug-induced crimes are not very much and it usually happens that the attacker only performs the action of knife crime once. What we need to do among other things in order to prevent knife crimes is to bring awareness to how dangerous drugs can be when abused.

Knife crimes are not only done by youths and teenagers but by even older people. These people whether younger or older are driven to this because they either want to earn money through it or because they have so much hatred for the person. The reason they do it to earn money is either because they are poor or just for extra cash, it can be of two types: robbery while doing the act of knife crime, and to be paid to do the knife crime because someone wants to assassinate the victim. Both of these methods can bring money to the criminal. To prevent all these, we need to be more secure. The government should give a policy about carrying knives in order to reduce the rate of knife crimes.

The reason for picking this topic to make the questionnaire is because of the rapid increase in knife crimes occurring in London. The government should be aware of it and take action to protect the citizens. At the beginning of the questionnaire, from number 1 to number 5, I asked the interviewee to give out his/her personal information. I did that to understand which kind of person has what kind of opinion. I then asked about the location of his/her home in London and how often it occurs so as to estimate how widespread knife crimes are.

The interviewee was questioned on how he/she feels about knife crimes and how he/she feels about the way police deals with these crimes, does it work or is the result of it good or bad. He/she was then thoroughly questioned about the impact it has on his/her life and on someone’s life that he/she knows. Among the ending questions, he/she was questioned on how to solve the problem and give a solution.

The interviewee was further questioned on whether he/she has been involved in knife crime as a witness and how it happened, and then was asked the same question but as a victim and how it happened, and he/she was also questioned on whether he ever felt the need to carry a knife. The last question was number 22, and it asked if he/she has ever experienced a loss or if someone close to him/her has ever experienced a lot as a result of knife crime?

The public needs to understand the effect of knife crimes on communities in London. It is an issue that needs to be solved immediately, and it is not only the government that needs to solve it but also citizens have to try hard to do away with it, we all need to work together to solve this problem and all problems. To solve this issue, the government should provide more jobs for its citizens so as to prevent those that perform knife crime for money from doing it again. We need to stop drug abuse which can even affect the state of our mental health. We also need to have more security personnel and security cameras. Putting these plans into motion not only adds security, but it also reassures citizens that they are safe and that they can relax both inside and outside their homes.
