Construction is the process of constructing a building or infrastructure. Jobs in the construction industry include, roofer, surveyor, welder, plumber, painter, electrician, crane operators and carpenters’ jobs like these involve a lot of skill but are quickly getting taken over by big issues that not only effects the construction industry but many others. People who work in the construction industry are often referred as tradesmen or “traddies”. Construction of building purely started because of the need for a controlled environment to limit the effect of the climate, back then the construction was very simple from today’s very complex buildings which are continually evolving and made safer, smarter and stronger to help people and other things to make the buildings better and more useful.

A big issue with the workforce of construction is Technology as technology is now capable of many things that have to do with the construction work industry such as connected equipment and tools, telematics, mobile apps, autonomous heavy equipment, drones, robots, augmented and virtual reality, and 3D printed buildings are here and being deployed and used on job sites across the world. This Issue is affecting the workplace because many people are losing their jobs to Robots which is leaving many people unemployed, and all those people will have to find new jobs which is also getting harder because of the robots and drones taking over many other jobs in other industries. However, we’re able to build stronger, taller, and more energy efficient structures. Technology has made construction sites safer and workers more efficient. It has allowed us to increase productivity, improve collaboration, and work on more complex projects so technology is an issue but it is also helping us build safer and better constructions. The construction industry as nothing for the technological change that is happening the industry, the industry just has to keep up with all the technological advancement. They don’t really have a response as yet to the issue, but they are using drones to fly over workplaces that are already dominated by robots and technology to see if everything is going wrong as the robots and technology aren’t always right, so they just have to be continuously checking over the workplaces because they are unable to keep up with the technological revolution. However, the job of the building supervisor cannot be replaced by any sort of technology or robot because if something was to go wrong there is someone there on site who can fix the issue before it gets bigger. So, people can’t do much now about technology they know it is coming so they just have to wait because if they do something it will never stop the rush of technology into the construction industry.

The role of the workers in the working field of construction has and is going to dramatically change from being the builder of the whole construction to being the controller of a drone that flies over different constructions. The workforce will be completely reduced of workers which will have to find another field of work to work in, the industry will only need limited workers for jobs like drone drivers, drone maintenance, supervisors, robot maintenance, 3D product designers, 3D house builders and Digital house architects. So, jobs that construction workers have today will be completely wiped out and changed into jobs that are dominated by technology and jobs that aren’t around now. In 30 years from now buildings will be built much quicker, safer, stronger, smarter and more reliable because of the technology and hardly any people will be working in the construction industry compared to how many people are working in the industry now. Finally, technology will change the face of the construction industry leaving many people unemployed but also making safer, smarter and stronger buildings in the future.
